Poland and the Czech Republic had expressed concern that the Obama administration to abandon the project of George W. Bush, missile defense, when the U.S. sought approaching the new dialogue with Russia and Iran.
Barack Obama in Europe to strengthen transatlantic ties has promised to continue the project, including missile defense installations in the Czech Republic and Poland.
Barack Obama in a speech in Prague said: "Let me be clear: the work of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missiles constitutes a real threat, not only for the United States, but also for our allies."
"The Czech Republic and Poland have shown courage by agreeing to host elements of defense against these missiles. As long as the threat of Iran continues, we intend to go ahead with a missile defense system. "
Barack Obama has called for the reduction of nuclear arsenals in the world and reiterated its willingness to negotiate a new disarmament agreement with Russia.
He assured that the United States maintain a safe and effective arsenal to deter any potential adversary and to protect its allies.
